#1 La Granacha Cotes du Rhone Villages 2007                                                                                                                                                                                     100% Grenache cuvee from old vines, which comes from an organically farmed parcel, and is bottled unfined and unfiltered with no SO2 additions. Deep ruby to the rim, with beautiful aromas of kirsch liqueur, melted licorice, ground pepper, and garrigue, it is a superb, full-bodied effort with terrific precision, definition, and concentration. $16

 #2 Graham Beck Brut Rose NV, South Africa                                                                                          Great salmon pink in color makes this wine look extremely attractive.  Noticeable ripe strawberries from the Pinot Noir with a creamy complexity from the Chardonnay. An explosion of raspberry fruit together with some fresh sherbet on the palate with a long fine creamy mousse.  $15

#3 Edge Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley 2007                                                                                 Napa Valley Cabernet for under twenty-five bucks. Go back and read that sentence again, because it’s not a misprint. Try finding one worth drinking for that price, let alone one that actually drinks well. Want a mouthful of dark Cab berry fruit with some spice-box and oak toast and feel like you’re getting away with larceny? #4 Les Heritiers du Comte Lafon Macon Clos de la Crochette 2007                                  This is considered to be one of the oldest, if not the oldest Chardonnay growing site in the world.  Located in the village where the Cluny monks first planted the varetal, this is the finest vineyard in the area. The perfect mix of clay and limestone combined with a medium steep slope and good eastern exposure, you can feel the history here as you walk through the vineyard. The wine is very poised and possesses that perfect balance of crips acidity, good mineral backbone, and a very intense long mouthfeel. The fruit shows boyth ripe apples and citrus and just a little spice. $29

#5 Seghesio Zinfandel Sonoma 2008                                                                                                                                                                                    Spicy undertones mark wine with a vibrant display of acidity that enhances the briary raspberry and blackberry varietal expression. Lush, velvety mouth feel interwoven with fine, integrated tannins creates a smooth richness. Full-bodied, juicy mid-palate with Seghesio “balance.” $26

 #6 Alvaro Casto Quinta de Pellada 2005                                                                                                    A blend of Touriga Nacional (60%), Tinta Roriz (20%) and a field blend for the remainder. This is essentially a Reserva, a flagship wine, It is elegant, but exuberant, fruity and bursting with flavor, yet bright, with good acidity and superb structure. This is a wine that shows off the elegance of the region, while remaining persistent on the palate. $28

#7 Hacienda Monasterio Ribera del Duero Reserva 2004                                                                2004 was a magical vintage in Spain. The Reserva Especial is full-bodied and elegant, with aromas and flavors of cedar wood, smoky tobacco, black currants, roasted meats, and herbs. $84

#8 Domaine Zind Humbrechet Riesling Brand SGN 2006                                                              Apricot preserves, candied violets, licorice, marzipan, rowan, gardenia, white raisin, and tangerine mark both the nose and palate of the Brand Selection Grains Nobles a wine of enormous botrytized ripeness, high acidity, and low alcohol. Watch your dental work!  $130 (375ml)

#9 Alban Viognier Central Coast 2007                                                                                                    Intense and fragrant, with a great balance between ripe, lush peach, citrus and tropical fruit flavors and sophisticated tobacco, mineral and spice notes. The flavors gain momentum on the finish.  $32

#10 La Conreria d’Scala Dei, Les Brugueres, Priorat 2008                                               Grenache Blanc: One of the region’s premier white wines, Les Brugueres is produced from 100% Garnacha Blanca from a single vineyard with 100+-year-old vines planted in Priorat’s famous llicorella soil. The wine is aged in stainless steel tanks and is left on its fine lees to impart a creamy texture and complexity.  Fresh and exciting the most thought provoking white wine in the shoppe. $32
