2007 RHONES & 2004 BRUNELLOS Wolfe’s this Weekend

FRIDAY AUGUST 21st

7-9 PM

2007 Rhones

at Wolfe’s WIne Shoppe on the Mile

As the 2007 Chateauneuf du Papes get closer to arrival  in the late summer I am getting more and more excited (THEY ARE HERE NOW!). Seldom is there as much anticipation as there is for the arrival of this magnificent vintage. Parker declares 2007 “the greatest vintage I have tasted in my thirty years working in that region”.   Now that being said, I have taught you to run the other direction, however I have to agree with just the limited wines I have tasted from a few producers.  They are nothing short of spectacular. I have marveled at the power of these 2007s, and uniformly noted the freshness and intense concentrated fruits, making this an ideal vintage for aging. These wines have everything you expect from great Chateauneuf – incredible elegance with full-bodied palates, glorious noses of roast meats and provincial herbs, subtle notes of truffles, licorice and spices. SAVE YOUR MONEY!

You won’t want to miss this….

$20 gets you in, a Riedel glass to use and take home from the tasting and a $10 credit for the night. Please call or email to RSVP !

Wines to be tasted:

Janasse Cotes du Rhone Blanc 2008

Roger Sabon Renaissance Chateauneuf du Pape 2008

SATURDAY AUGUST 22ND

2-5 PM

2004 Brunellos

at Wolfe’s Wine Shoppe on Dixie

Lovers of Tuscan reds can enjoy again. The 2004 vintage produced wonderfully perfumed and majestically refined Brunellos with an excellent balance of fruit and refined tannins. Many are beautiful to drink now but will be even better with two or three more years of bottle age. And they should improve for decades to come. Wine Spectator scores the 2004 Brunellos 92-97 and Antonio Galloni from the Wine Advocate scored the vintage 96. Here are the producers that we have been buying for the last eight vintages, yes Wolfe’s is very loyal to the growers we are fond of!

There’s a lot of early drinking pleasure in these wines, but they are built to age for decades

The appropriate manners are suggested with the program; please don’t bring wine that is on the restaurant’s list, that would be uncomfortable for you, your guests and the restaurant.  Also make sure to tip the server as if you had purchased a bottle from their list as the server should not be recessionized and lastly make sure to say thank you to the ownership for letting you bring your own wine in..
