2007 Chateauneuf Du Papes Pre-Sale

Wolfe’s Wine Shoppe 2007 Pre Sale Chateauneuf du Papes

Even if you have been sleeping under a rock you know that the 2007 vintage is going to go down in history as vintages like 89, 90 and 98 classic, age worthy and amazing.  We have been touting it since the 2005’s were released two years ago and those who have supported the wines in the past will be shown preferential treatment in allocations.  We think we have worked very fair pricing on the wines and the pre-sale is in effect till the wines arrive on the 27th of July.  We will not hold any wine without a form of payment, cash check or credit card in order to get the aggressive pre-sale price.  Get your orders to Jeffrey soon as possible to get your allocations and your pre-sale pricing!!!!

Domiane Giraud

Marie and Francois are a brother/sister team who have been making the wines under their parents since 1998 making changes along the way. Their father Pierre passed in 2003 and they have been in charge since. Most of their holdings are in Les Gallimardes (stones), but they also have vines in La Crau and Pignan (sandy soils). Their farming has been converted to organic and their parcels are filled with old bush vines. Many of which are 100 years old or more. In the cellar they are partial to cement for their vinification. The berries are 80% destemmed and only the Syrah and 5% of Grenache for Grenache de Pierre go into seasoned barrels. Philipe Cambie the famed oenologist turned consultant is helping the young dynamic duo achieve stardom quickly.  We sold the 05’s which was the first vintage we had ever had, the wines were and still are value for the money.

Domaine Marcoux

The Armenier family has deep roots in Chateauneuf du Pape. They can date their forefathers back to 1344.  Marcoux has 17.5 ha. One of them with white varieties. The average age is about 50 years. 5.5 ha is 90 years old. Half of these old vines are used for Vieilles Vignes. The rest goes to the classic cuvée. The vinification is traditional for the appellation with maturing mostly in foudres. The principles can be described by citing Sofie Armenier: “We interfere with the vinification as little as possible. We don’t do any pigeage to get color, because we just don’t want to get in the way of the fruit.”

Christophe Sabon winemaker and owner of Janasse…believe the hype!

Domaine de Janasse

Domaine de la Janasse has quickly become one of the Superstar estates of Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Led by the dynamic Christophe Sabon and his sister Isabel, the estate combines the best of both traditional and modern techniques to craft a collection of truly riveting wines from “simple” value-priced VDP’s to benchmark Châteauneufs. They are self-proclaimed “great defenders of Grenache,” which still represents 75% of their vines. They manage the common rusticity of Grenache-based wines through meticulous work in the vineyards and cellar. The result is a wide range of lavishly ripe, extracted Châteauneuf-du-Papes and Cotes-du-Rhônes that are complex and yet balanced with acidity — often in contradiction to an appellation better known for sheer exuberance and power.  Year in and year out these are often my favorite wines from the region.

Domaine Roger Sabon

The Sabon family has a long history in Chateauneuf du Pape they are one of the oldest documented landholders in Chateauneuf du Pape and the Sabon family has controlled vineyards in the zone since 1540.  Roger Sabon is the father of the three brothers who run the domain today Jean-Jacques, Denis and Gilbert Sabon. The vinification is since 2001 in the care of Didier Négron, son-in- law of Jean Jacques Sabon.  Denis and his son Julien take care of the fields. Delphine, daughter of Denis is running the reception tasting room.   These wines still sit under the radar and are therefore amazing values.
